Introduction

The finale of Steven Universe has been whipping up emotion for months now- the announcement, the teasers and the airing of the first one-hour block finale episode I Am My Monster has felt like a flurry of excitement and trepidation all wrapped into one.

'Steven Universe Future' takes place two years after 'Change Your Mind' and follows our favourite Crystal Gem as he learns to come in touch with his emotions and trying to find his place in the universe after so much has changed. Here, the coming-of-age show familiar. Steven grappling with abandonment, friendships and his own definitions of self-worth.

The Heartfelt Goodbyes

From the moment 'Steven Universe Future' premiered, we knew one thing: it was going to be an emotional journey whether it ended well or not. Given the talk surrounding the show and Rebecca Sugar's obvious passion for it - which comes through with every beat of the series - we were also sure that we were in good hands as it carried on.

One thing outstanding about the Stephen Universe finale is how the show manages to get sadder as it progresses, laying down plot point upon plot point until you cannot help but feel a crushing sense of sadness well up in deep in your chest.

Steven Learns Important Lessons On Grief

The apparent tone of this seven-part finale may have confused viewers at first- given the result of the episodes on dealing with unresolved grief. But the foundation for the story was laid strong before its resolution came eight episodes in, with several unexpected plot progressions along the way.

The series gave fans meaningful stories about supporting friends they love, ones that survive even in closure. While the final series could often end up being brutal, somehow, Rebecca managed to deliver message to little or no waste of screen time whatsoever; still telling rich, satisfying stories in each of the remaining characters' arcs...

Emerald, Steven and Connie

After Jasper comes in Steven's life imposing her struggle with distress, shattering trust Steven confided/trusted with his closest human friend -Connie - instead, their friendship had nearly irreparably been damaged as a result.

The essence made this entire heart-breaking exchange, natural acted by both Washington Zoey and Taylor and Zach Callison, who could convey emotions that each character felt very visceral. Steven has never hit rock bottom. One of such exemplifying this in action is during Emerald's chase and later pursuit by terraform cluster organisms looming as a direct threat on Beach City.

New Beginnings

But just as love hurts, as well as complications due stress either caused by interior growth patterns or day to day events. Early in the final seas(the game changer), a rift between Steven and Connie demonstrated structural issues related to youth permanently returning pieces missing during their adolescence

The Main Cast in a Last-Ditch Effort To Save the World

With everyone coming to their side, including new friends Connie makes at her Selective College and the members of the Cluster itself conjured upside down by the arrival of Padparadscha and Beric.

Undoubtedly, besides making peaceful art demonstration in cartoons an inseparable part of Cartoon Network's identity, little has captured the range of positive virtues more perfect repeatedly- present than past-Umbrella Academy, 'Love on The Spectrum' and Steven Universe Future.  It remains to be seen what exciting new paths Rebecca and other SU crew members- will embark in the near endless future.
